Much has transpired since my last post. We left Austin, visited Lubbock, Santa Rosa, Santa Fe, and are now in Espanola. Traveling much faster than before as we are trying to make it to Seattle by the end of July. Nonetheless I will try to keep updating this as regularly as possible.
New Mexico!!
Again with this silly painting – I know. A few more layers and changes. I’m learning things if not progressing the actual piece in any particular direction.
Santa Rosa, NM. I’ve gotten into glazing and this painting has several layers of transparent color thinly mixed with a 1:1:1 solution of mineral spirits, damar varnish, and linseed oil. It’s a slow process as it requires waiting for each layer to dry (takes about a day), but it results in very deep saturated colors.
